History:
In 1991, after the Romanian dictator, Nicolae Ceausescu, had
fallen from power, Peter Mrazik and a group of individuals traveled to
Romania to volunteer in the state orphanages. They were burdened for
the children who were in these places. There were many children, and
too few workers to care for them. After returning to the United
States, the members of the group came together forming Children’s Aid
International Relief and Development (CAIRD), and with assistance from
the Romanian government, established Father’s House in Medias in December
1999.
Goals:
Father’s House cares for orphaned children by placing them in loving foster
families. The children receive a loving family, shelter, clothing,
nutrition, education, and most importantly an opportunity to know Jesus and
receive His Love. The children being cared for in the foster families range
from infants to 16 years of age. CAIRD endeavors to provide these children
with life skills and trades to be able to support themselves and their
future families. They leave the home, but remain a part of the loving
family, when they reach adulthood.
Program:
The children all attend local government schools.
The families are encouraged to have
nightly Bible studies and devotions. They also attend church
regularly.
Sewing, cooking, gardening, computer
training, and language classes are offered to the children as vocational
training.
The families enjoy going to the park,
playing, singing, and fellowshipping with one another during the week.
Children attend ministry clubs and
Bible camps in the community. |
